Subscriptions

Subscriptions sends short new-post notices through the site's SMTP configuration. It is intended for small lists and is inactive by default.

A superadmin enables the plugin under System > Plugins, then opens Subscriptions in the admin navigation. That page controls signup, new-post notices, footer forms, owner notices, pauses, and the list-size limit. Superadmins can manage the site list and any author list. Authors manage only their own list and settings.

Signup and new-post notifications have separate switches. Pausing notifications keeps confirmed subscribers. Public signup is unavailable while the site is non-public.

Public signup requires e-mail confirmation. The response does not reveal whether an address is already known or the request was rejected. Opening the confirmation link does not subscribe the address; the reader must press the confirmation button.

If an address is not confirmed within 24 hours, housekeeping removes its pending signup for that list.

Admins can add or remove subscribers for the whole site or any existing author space. Authors can manage only their own space. A manually added subscriber is active immediately, so use that action only when the address owner has already agreed to receive the messages.

Subscriptions sends a notice only when a post is first published. Pages, edits, existing posts, imports, restores, and bulk synchronization do not send notices. Site subscribers receive posts from the main site and from authors who have enabled delivery. An author-list subscriber receives that author's posts. An address on both matching lists receives one notice.

Messages are queued and sent by normal housekeeping or:

Each message states why it was sent and ends with the site name, site URL, and tinymash. New-post messages keep the unsubscribe link in that footer and include standard one-click unsubscribe headers. No tracking, remote image, attachment, or full post body is included.

On a non-public site, main-site posts can trigger notices while a whole-site secret link is active. Author posts can trigger notices while a whole-site or matching author link is active. Messages use the ordinary post URL and never reveal the secret link.

Use [subscribe] to place a signup form in a post or page. Main-site content signs readers up to the site list; content in an author space uses that author's list. Static exports omit signup forms and private subscriber data.
